Rishikesh is the city in the Uttarakhand state of India. It is situated on the banks of holy river Ganges and filled with amazing greenery and beautiful atmosphere. The breathtaking views of sacred river Ganges add more charm to the city.

It is also known as one of the top spiritual destination in the world and majorly famous for its Adventurous activities like Bungee Jumping, River Rafting, Mountain Biking & more.

The surroundings of Rishikesh are cold which makes this place more attractive amongst tourists. It is the home of many Saints; and meditation, yoga, Ayurveda & teachings ashram for many.

How to reach Rishikesh?
• Planning by Flight: Dehradun airport is the nearest airport for reaching Rishikesh by flight. It is around 30 minutes (20.9 km) drive from the airport. One can hire a cab or bus service from the airport.

• Planning by Train: Though Rishikesh has its own railway station, however, it does not serve many trains. It is advisable to communicate Rishikesh via Haridwar. Haridwar Junction Railway Station is around 26 km away from Rishikesh. One can easily get a bus & share cab or auto-rickshaw. You can also hire a private taxi from there. Haridwar station is not only connected with Rishikesh, but it also has good connectivity with other major Indian cities like Delhi, Jaipur, Amritsar, Lucknow, Kolkata, Mathura and Mumbai.

• Planning by Road: Rishikesh has regular bus service from nearby cities. However, if you are planning a road trip in your own vehicle, then that will be an excellent option. Rishikesh is around 20 km (40 minutes) from Haridwar, 242 km (6 hours) from Delhi, 362 km (7 hours and 30 minutes) from Mathura, 365 km (7 hours and 30 minutes) from Vrindavan, 411 km (8 hours) from Agra, 426 km (8 hours and 30 minutes) from Amritsar, 494 km (10 hours) from Jaipur and 555 km (10 hours and 15 minutes) from Lucknow.

Best time to visit:
The best time to plan your stay in Rishikesh is throughout the year but the peak time when many tourists explore this beautiful city is between March - June. The season during these months are of early summer and mild spring; that is the time when camping, trekking, mountain biking and paragliding are the favourite activities.

If you are looking forward to some religious festivals, then Monsoon season is the best time for you to visit here. But you might find heavy rush during this stage.

After Monsoon season, it is the time for water river rafting; between the months of September till November.

Rishikesh winters start from the month of October and last till February month. If you are a big fan of nature, then you must explore this beautiful town in winters. Rock climbing is the activity you can look for at this time.

Food to eat:
Rishikesh is purely a vegetarian place. North Indian delicacies are readily available around every corner.
